2004

December 31, 2004
Happy New Year!

Ho, I'm back! Back in the UK! Easily spotted by the idiot big grin on my face as I make my way around London, being right up the front at Cry Wolf gigs, and now looking particularly smart in my loaned Daniel James jacket :-)

And what a great gig it was - I can't think of a nicer way to see in the New Year, at a packed Six Bells in Brentford, my fifth time there - I'm just about a local!

December 27, 2004 - January 19, 2005
I've taken the plunge, and headed off to the UK again. Consequently, there's a new trip diary under construction. I'm updating it daily, but uploading only irregularly as I'm reliant on Internet cafes for access. Never fear, it will all appear in the fullness of time. I should also note that the related gig photo pages are in a fairly rough form and will most likely change as I find the time to go through the material I'm recording.
December 9, 2004
The December 2004 / January 2005 Cry Wolf gig dates are in... and what a great selection of venues there are for the New Year - it's going to be great fun, but there's never any doubt of that, considering the company that I keep. How many people get to hang out with some of the coolest guys ever? :-)
November 24, 2004
Better late than never - I've added quite a few photos to the 2004 trip diary, just when I'm tooling up for the 2005 trip!
November 9, 2004
Here's a nice one - the Japanese picture sleeve issue of Liner's Keep Reaching Out For Love. It seems that the Liner album was called Dream Liner in Japan.
November 8, 2004
The Cry Wolf November/December giglist has been updated.
October 25, 2004
Another storming gig at The Red Lion in Twickenham on October 23! Here's a review by Sue, thanks a bundle, looking forward to catching up with you next time around!
October 15, 2004
The Nettleham gig went well, by all accounts. Here's a review by Jamo Lyons, thanks!

A new Blackfoot Sue page - details of their equipment as reported by Melody Maker in mid-1973.

Andy Scott's Sweet played at Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL club.

Despite the lurking lurgy I was suffering (not to mention the boys in the band as well - they weren't in particularly good voice due to being exposed to our seesawing temperatures over the last two weeks), it was a fantastic gig, and the five of us - me, Alan and his lovely wife Chris, plus my friends Gina and Colin - had a great night. Certainly I haven't laughed so much in ages. Gina was christened the "tallest woman in the world" by the band, and even the fight breaking out after the gig(!) didn't impact on the great atmosphere.

Bleak news... about The Bleak House

The Bleak House, in Woking, Surrey, has apparently changed hands, and seen its last gig, played by none other than Cry Wolf, who had originally been scheduled to play there in mid-October. The gig was brought forward so that the band could see the venue out in appropriate style.

Only just back in July, The Bleak House had hosted an all-weekend music festival and barbeque, and was a popular venue, always packed with patrons. It will be sadly missed - one less venue to go and see our favourite bands!

Read Steve Murphy's gig review of that last ever gig.
Dusk at The Bleak House... live music no more
September 19, 2004
A bit of extra detail on the creation of Standing In The Road, and a fair bit of aesthetic editing all over the place.
September 8, 2004
The Cry Wolf September/October giglist has been updated. We see a return to some popular venues after a brief absence - The Red Lion at Twickenham and The Windsor Castle at Carshalton being just two!
August 31, 2004
The full page ad from Melody Maker for Get It All To Me has been added to the lyrics page.
August 30, 2004
A frustrating weekend - apologies to all who tried to get through to the website and couldn't connect - the web hosting company finally identified that their server was being spammed. In the meantime, there have been aesthetic changes to all gig photo pages, and a new page about Gary Farmer.
August 28, 2004
A few more 2002 Cry Wolf gig dates, and another photo page, this one from September 2003, in fact, from the last gig from my 2003 holiday, at The Six Bells, Brentford. This is timely, as it's a year to the day when I was setting off on that trail-blazing trip.
August 25, 2004
A new Cry Wolf photo page, this one dating back to 1999 and 2000. Photos thanks to Kevin!
Another blast from the past is a gig review from Shaun Fitz, World Super Bikes, Brands Hatch, from 1999. Thanks!!!
August 18, 2004
A small cache of Cry Wolf gig dates from 2002 and 2003 have been added to the Timeline, and some extra graphics of Liner records have been added to the Discography.
August 16, 2004
A new photo page: with a venue change from The New Moon, Hanworth, to The Marne Inn, Bishop's Stortford, on Saturday, August 14, with substitute drummer Smash. Photos once again by Phil, who commented, "Thanks for another excellent night. Hopefully The Marne will book you again."
August 11, 2004
I've come up with an apt term for how I've spent my holidays for the last two years - binge-gigging! :-)
Extra nav buttons have been added to the lyrics and album tracks pages, and pictures of B.C. Sweet and Skeleton Crew have been added to the biography.
August 6, 2004
There are minor edits occurring on various pages, as I gain snippets of new info, and a few new ones in the pipeline.
August 4, 2004
The Cry Wolf gig list has been updated with the August / September gig dates.

It's the second anniversary of the website, and also three years to the day since I saw Megadeth play the Enmore Theatre. What a fantastic gig that was, particularly considering what else was going on in my life at time!

July 23, 2004
Here's a really interesting find: a CD called Outside Edge - In Concert. It's great!
P.S. the finger is healing - I can't use it, but it's healing :-)
July 18, 2004
It's bitterly cold outside, but my plans for an early tea and settling down with a cosy computer were thwarted by the lid of a can of vegetables slicing deeply into my finger - after a trip to the hospital, a lot of blood and three stitches later, I'm back home... after a bonus tetanus jab into the bargain. No bass playing for a while. In the meantime, I had come up with a nice 3D effect on the banner and navbars - bloody finger withstanding, I'll roll it out to all pages tonight. :-) (Glad I did that BEFORE the anaesthetic wore off...)
July 10, 2004
Another review of the Outside Edge album More Edge has been added. Just think how things could have been if released at the time!
Lots of edits have been made to the formatting of the Blackfoot Sue / Liner / Outside Edge biography pages one and two, including the addition of an image of a promo tape of the then unnamed third Outside Edge album.
July 1, 2004
The Cry Wolf gig list has been updated with the July / August gig dates.

Everything is now running on the new host - the new domains are officially live:- www.blackfootsue.com and www.crywolf.blackfootsue.com !
June 28, 2004
At last! I've found a new guestbook for the website. It's free, so there are pop-up ads, but it's a huge improvement on the Yahoo guestbook, which cut the entries too short. Check it out: the new guestbook, or better still, sign it!
June 20, 2004
A bit of fun from 1973 - The Musical Express - Blackfoot Sue's "bright comfortable pad on wheels" !
June 15, 2004
A new page has been added - a brief history of Cry Wolf. A big thanks to Kevin for the Guernsey photo and info.
An additional gig review has been added: The Globe, Brentford, April 1, 2004. It was a great gig - I was there too!
June 13, 2004
The graphics have been updated on the Cry Wolf photo gallery index page; the main Cry Wolf page and meet the band have also been updated.
June 6, 2004
I've added the lyrics of Celestial Plain to the Blackfoot Sue lyrics page. An early example of Tom Farmer wit :-).
June 5, 2004
The Cry Wolf gig list has been updated with the June / July gig dates.

I lucked out on finding out a lot of the Outside Edge tour dates in 1986, supporting Manfred Mann! Since the timeline was already huge, I decided it was timely to split it into three seperate eras: the seventies, the eighties and nineties, and the millenium and beyond. The end result is really quite good!
May 30, 2004
With Pars away on holidays, Essex guitarist Steve Forward is standing in in Cry Wolf. Photos from the previous night's gig (May 29) at The Bell On The Green, Feltham. Thanks to Phil for passing them on!
May 13, 2004
The Hurtwood Park photo gallery page has been updated; the Cry Wolf gig list (May/June) has been updated.
May 10, 2004
Advance notice of a change to the website URLs! Apologies to everyone who has hit the website only to encounter a message saying that the site has exceeded its alloted data transfer! Moves are afoot to relocate the sites from Yahoo! to a dedicated domain - please stay tuned! In the meantime I'm revising design and colour elements and also adding in new information.
May 9, 2004
Major revisions to the Cry Wolf gig reviews page, including a review of the gig at Stripes Bar, Brentford FC, (April 16, 2004) by Jason Ritchie.
May 7, 2004
Having survived my first week back at work, I have a free weekend now to really get stuck into the website, though the gig pages may be inconsistant in design for a little while longer while I work on finishing them off.

In the meantime, a fanfare: I now (finally) have a picture of Gift, thanks to Gary!
May 3, 2004
I'm back in Australia (sigh)... and I've finally picked up the mistyped links on this page, apologies to all who've tried to use them over the last few weeks. There will be steady additions and corrections over the next few weeks. In the meantime, this is the fast way to the Photo Gallery Index: from there you can go straight to the photo page of the gig of your choice. And remember, if you have any photos to submit, please email me - all contributions gratefully received!

David, me, TomApril 29, 2004
A photo from my final Cry Wolf gig, at Hurtwood Polo Club, Ewhurst. It was a great gig to finish up on, including a scenic drive through the Surrey downs to get there, though it was awfully tough saying goodbye. A big thank you to everyone, I had an absolutely marvelous time, and caught every single gig! I'll definitely be back next year - I had far too much fun!!
April 5, 2004
The April/May Cry Wolf gig dates have been added.

Hey Mum, can I bring them home with me??!

March 26 - April 30, 2004
I've made it - I'm on my way back to the UK... please click here for my second trip diary. Since, on my last trip, I only really got photos from my final gig, this time I went both prepared and determined to make up for lost time, not to mention create a lasting momento of the trip.

Cry Wolf were scheduled to play a massive 15 gigs during the time I was there, and I caught them all, both in person and on film. A photo page has been created for each of the gigs - click here to go to the Photo Gallery Index page.

March 11, 2004
The Cry Wolf gig dates have been updated for March/April.
February 6, 2004
The February/March Cry Wolf gig dates have been added.
January 10, 2004
The latest Cry Wolf gig dates (January/February) have been added.
A new year, a few cosmetic changes, a new slogan, a few updates to the discography, and some valuable additions to the band biography, thanks to Budgie!
